Dubai ranked the fifth-best city in the world
Dubai, the most populous and vibrant city in the United Arab Emirates, has achieved a remarkable feat by ranking as the fifth-best city in the world, according to Resonance Consultancy’s World’s Best Cities Report 20211. The city, which is famous for its stunning skyline, luxurious lifestyle, and diverse culture, has surpassed other global metropolises such as Tokyo, Singapore, and Los Angeles. The report, which evaluates 100 cities with more than one million inhabitants across six categories, praised Dubai for its innovation, resilience, and attractiveness.
One of the main factors that boosted Dubai’s ranking was its product category, which measures the city’s infrastructure, attractions, and landmarks. Dubai scored high in this category due to its impressive array of world records, such as the tallest building (Burj Khalifa), the largest mall (The Dubai Mall), the largest fountain (The Palm Fountain), and the largest indoor ski resort (Ski Dubai). The city also offers a variety of outdoor destinations that suit its sunny weather, such as Kite Beach, La Mer, JBR The Beach, and Palm Jumeirah.
Another category that Dubai excelled in was its promotion category, which assesses the city’s online presence and reputation. Dubai ranked second in this category, behind only New York, due to its strong digital engagement and media coverage. The city has been actively marketing itself as a destination for tourists, investors, and expatriates through various channels, such as social media, websites, blogs, and podcasts. Dubai has also hosted major events that have attracted global attention, such as the Expo 2020, the Dubai Shopping Festival, and the Dubai International Film Festival.
Dubai also performed well in other categories, such as place, people, and programming. The place category measures the city’s natural and built environment, including its safety, cleanliness, and sustainability. The people category evaluates the city’s diversity, education, and immigration. The programming category examines the city’s arts, culture, entertainment, and nightlife. Dubai scored high in these categories due to its cosmopolitan population, its quality of life, its environmental initiatives, and its rich cultural scene.
The report concluded that Dubai is a city that “never stops innovating” and that it has “emerged stronger than ever” from the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The report also predicted that Dubai will continue to rise in the rankings in the future, as it pursues its vision of becoming “the world’s best city”. Dubai’s ranking as the fifth-best city in the world is a testament to its achievements, ambitions, and appeal.
